It is astounding to me that lulu cannot control the cost of shipping from the printers that they use. Most of the self publishing companies charge an arm and a leg for shipping or they incorporate it into the cost of the books and the shipping is then very minimal. Paying 17 bucks for the book and 3 bucks for shipping is the same as paying 3 for the book and 17 for shipping. If the actual cost of the book is 3 bucks, then one would think that using a cheaper method of shipping would give that company (LULU) an edge over the rest of them that are out there. LULU COME ON GET CONTROL OF YOUR SHIPPING COSTS!!! Force your printers to use USPS Flat Rate sized boxes (because currently most shipping costs are based on weight). I went to purchase 20 books that I wrote for guys in our church bible study to use as their EMAW quiet time journal and it was about 35 bucks for the books and 27 for the shipping. All 20 books would fit in a USPS Medium Flat Rate box for about 14 bucks. That is almost a 50% savings on the shipping costs.
Thank you for your feedback. Lulu is always working with various carriers for the right combination of shipping costs and transit times. We will take this feedback into consideration as we continue to find the best shipping options for our customers.
